New Delhi: Even as Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi held two-day long deliberations with partymen to review the party’s rout in assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, Punjab and Goa, the party has entrusted Defence Minister A K Antony-led panel with the responsibility to go into the bottom of the recent debacle and further strategise party’s revamp in these states.

The three-member panel headed by Antony with Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit and Union Power Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde as its members on Sunday held separate discussions with Union Minister Beni Prasad Verma, Rita Bahaguna Joshi and Mohan Prakash to look into the reasons of the party’s abysmal show in Uttar Pradesh assembly polls.

It also summoned Pramod Tiwari who couldn’t appear before the panel citing ill-health of his wife.

The panel will also prepare its report on the reasons of the debacle and plans to improve its performance after meeting office-bearers and ministers participated in party’s campaign trail in the elections.

As per the sources, Congress general secretary Digvijaya Singh,who is currently abroad and being targeted by leaders for party’s defeat in UP, will submit his report without appearing before the panel.
