New Delhi: The Congress party which has always appeared as the champion of freedom of speech now seems to be afraid of opening mouth against its most estranged ally, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee.  Notably, the Trinamool is the second largest ally of UPA government at the centre.

Already facing the heat from eastern hurricane Banerjee, the Centre has decided to keep mum on the issue of West Bengal government banning its libraries from stocking English newspapers.

While speaking to the media persons, Congress spokesperson Rashid Alvi said, “I cannot comment on this as I have no information in this matter.”

Earlier according to an official circular issued by the West Bengal government, the English dailies will no longer be available in the state-sponsored and aided libraries in West Bengal.
