Bhopal: The party high command’s effort to strengthen its organization in Madhya Pradesh by appointing Union Minister Kanti Lal Bhuria as president of Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) is unlikely to bring out any major change in the scenario.

The move of Congress to hold elections to elect deserving candidate for key party posts has backfired. Alleging the Congress of not following the stipulated norms for the elections, few party members are planning to challenge the decision in court.

In few districts the election procedure for key party posts including district president was followed but the results were not declared. In a surprise move, the Congress bigwigs announced the names of district president. Few names of many party members, who did not contest the elections, were announced for important posts in the party.

The issue strongly opposed by Congress members who were not named in the list. Following which party seniors including Congress’ central election authority Chairman Oscar Fernandes, state election campaign In-charge Narendra Budhania and General Secretary BK Hariprasad met to find the formula for unanimous solution. However, despite the efforts they failed to arrive on a conclusion.

Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh has remained silent on the issue.
