Lucknow: Congress has decided to support Samajwadi Party candidate Rajmati Nishad by not fielding its contestant in Pipraich by-election, giving an indication of proximity in the state politics ahead of the next year’s assembly polls

The BSP has opted out of the poll, while the BJP has already announced Radheshyam Singh as its candidate.
Congress general secretary and chief spokesman of the state, Subodh Srivastava, on Wednesday reiterated the party’s stand to support SP in the bye-election.

Giving a slogan of ‘remove BSP, eradicate corruption’, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) president Choudhary Ajit Singh, however, said he would not make any alliance with either BSP or BJP.

He added, if SP, Congress and RLD fight together, the Mayawati government would be unseated in the coming state assembly elections.
