Indore: Questioning the intentions of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan behind his ‘Beti Bachao Abhiyan’(Save the girl child campaign), the state Congress unit has termed the issue as a mere political gimmick.

Women Congress chief of MP, Archana Jaiswal told media persons, “Before launching the campaign, Chauhan should ensure that females are safe in the state.” She pointed out that in the last three years, about 16,000 women have gone missing from the state. “The state government has completely ignored the issue,” she added.

“52 percent children below age of 5 years are malnourished in the state. 8,000 and 20,000 children are suffering from severe acute malnutrition in Khandwa and Indore respectively” informed the Congress leader.

It is worth mentioning that ‘Beti Bachao Abhiyaan’ kicked-start with the felicitation ceremony of 1100 girls at the residence of CM, Shivraj Singh Chauhan on Wednesday. The campaign aims at saving the girl child in the state.
