Ludhiana: Commenting on the social activist Anna Hazare, former Punjab Chief Minister and state Congress president Captain Amarinder Singh said that the Gandhian will be welcomed in the state for the anti corruption crusade.

During a programme of National Students of India on Wednesday, Singh told reporters that Anna movement will make no adverse effect on the Congress in Punjab.

Singh said, “Anna is fighting against corruption. The ruling SAD-BJP is the most corrupt government since the independence. If Anna comes to Punjab, he will have to train his guns against the ruling alliance.”

“Punjab owes a debt of Rs 1.20 lakh and its revenue is only Rs 20,000 crore. The state is heading towards complete bankruptcy” said the former CM.

The Congress stalwart pointed out, “Punjab is lagging behind other states in all the sectors. The agriculture sector has recorded a modest growth of 1.2 percent as compared to national rate of 8 percent.”
