New Delhi: The second tenure of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) parliamentarian Murli Manohar Joshi as the Chairman of Public Accounts Committee (PAC) may not turn out to be a smooth sailing.

With Joshi being in the limelight during the past few months in the 2G Spectrum case probe, Congress has already started its preparation to target the BJP stalwart. Congress has made its intentions clear by including some belligerent party members in the PAC committee.

On April 28, 11 out of the 21 members of the PAC had rejected the draft report on the 2G spectrum scam. By including some aggressive party members in the PAC committee, Congress has prepared itself for further discussion on the draft report.

The new Congress members in the PAC include Sanjay Nirupam, Jagdambika Pal, Sandeep Dikshit, Girja Vyas and Jayanti Natrajan. Whereas, Satpal Maharaj, Naveen Jindal and Bhanwar Jitendra Singh have been removed from the committee. Congress has re-nominated KS Rao and Saifuddin Soz in the committee.

According to highly places sources in Congress, plans are afoot to resort to similar policies which BJP and Joshi have used over the years to target other political parties. Congress had made efforts to ensure that Joshi was not nominated as PAC head for the second tenure, but under BJP pressure to quit all the Parliamentary committees, he was once again reappointed.

The PAC draft report on the 2G spectrum scam is yet to be accepted by Parliament. However, the secretariat of Lok Sabha Speaker has made it clear that it will not rush to any conclusion.
