Bhopal: The Bhopal Police on Sunday arrested activists of the Opposition Congress Party, who were protesting against Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader Lal Krishna Advani's ongoing nationwide ‘Jan Chetna Yatra’.

Terming Advani’s yatra a mere political stint , the Congress protestors took to street holding black flags and shouted slogans against BJP- led Madhya Pradesh government.

Criticizing the police over lathi-charge on the party workers, senior party leaders including VK Hariprasad, Digvijay Singh and Kantilal Bhuria said that the police action is not justified as the Congressmen were taking a peaceful protest.

Charging Advani's rally as a corruption encouraging movement, Congress leader Manak Agarwal said “If BJP is so concerned about graft, then it should first check the corruption in his party.”

Amongst the Congress leaders who have been detained are Manak Agarwal, JP Dhanopia, Deepchand Yadav, Avnish Bhargava, Kailash Mishra, Manoj Shukla and other party activists.
