New Delhi:The consumer court has come down heavily on a Haryana land agency for delaying allotment of plot and demanding extra revenue for the converted land. The Court has also directed the land agency to pay 25 thousand rupees as compensation to the applicant.

Waiting for 22 years for the possession of his land in Faridabad, Shyam Sunder had filed a petition against Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) in the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission.

The Committee had observed that if a land agency fails to fulfill the promise made to the buyer and offers him a plot at a different location, the agency is not entitled to demand the additional cost for it.

The members of the committee J M Malik and Vinay Kumar in their order have said that the allotment of plot is a binding obligation of the land agency. The committee has flayed the chief administrator and the real estate officer for demanding an extra 66,725 rupee for the land.

The committee further said that Shyam Sunder had filed an application in 1990 and should have got the possession of the land in two years and therefore, HUDA should be made responsible for the delay.

The consumer court of Panchkula too had held HUDA responsible for neglect and harassment of the applicant.
