Chandigarh: It is essential to prepare a contingency plan for farming in view of poor rain in monsoon season, Chaudhary Charan Singh Haryana Agricultural University Vice Chancellor K S Khokkar said on Monday.

He said in some areas, due to inadequate irrigation arrangements, crops of Guar and Groundnut have got destroyed.

He said although the shortage of rainfall could not be fulfilled, agriculture specialists could give their suggestions to the farmers to help them overcome this situation.

There is also a dire need to pay special attention towards livestock. Therefore, fodder plants must be included in the contingency plan, he said.

He was addressing a workshop organised to review the working of 'Krishi Vigyan Kendras' of Haryana and Delhi held in the campus of the university.
