The movie is a remake of Vidya Balan starrer Bollywood film ‘The Dirty Picture’. The members of radical organization Sri Ram are staging protests against the release of the film.

The protesters are believed to have objections over the alleged obscene contents and Pakistani citizenship of the film’s actress Veena Malik.

‘Silk Sakkath Hot’ was released on August 2. The members of Sri Ram Sena had earlier protested at various theaters in the state and they are not allowing the screening of the film in Mandya, Mysore, Hubli, Belgaum, and Dharwad, saying that the film was an insult to their language and culture.

The protests have had a negative impact on the box office collection of the film. The director of ‘Silk Sakkath Hot’ is upset over the objections being raised against his film. He said that opposing the release of the film because its actress Veena Malik is a Pakistani citizen is unfortunate.

“I am very upset. I cannot understand the reason behind these protests. I think it is because I have roped in a Pakistani actress in my film. Veena is also very upset,” said Trishul, the film’s director.

The film is based on the life of famous south Indian actress Silk Smitha.
