"Jammu region will remain bandh on July 31 and August 1 and 2," ACC chairman and JKHCBA, Jammu, president Abhinav Sharma said here.

"The BJP has yet again betrayed and cheated the people of Jammu region by saying that the Union Health Ministry today agreed to provide AIIMS-like facilities to Jammu region," Sharma said.

ACC, an amalgamation of over 70 organisations, has been leading an agitation for setting up of AIIMS in Jammu region.

The people of Jammu region would observe 72-hour-long bandh from tomorrow in case the BJP fails to deliver its commitment by today, he said.

The ACC chairman also urged the people across Jammu region to come out on the streets tomorrow to protest against the BJP and show 'its rightful place' by making the bandh a great success.

The Congress also extended its full support to the strike and attacked BJP for 'trying to sabotage' the people's struggle for the issue.

"The statement of AIIMS-like facilities are attempts to mislead the people, by the BJP leaders, to sabotage the agitation and Jammu bandh," Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Spokesman, Ravinder Sharma said.

He said that it is very unfortunate that the BJP secured the mandate of the people of Jammu region by 'false commitments' and now the party is trying to sabotage their struggle by creating confusion on the eve of the strike.

The party leaders also appealed to the people to unitedly fight for the cause.
