Lucknow, Jan 07 (Agencies): A policeman's body was found on a railway track in Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. An official said that it appeared as if he was murdered and was thrown before a running train.

The body of the 52-year-old Mahanarayan Tiwari, who worked with the District Crime Record Bureau in Mirzapur, was recovered on late Thursday evening from the tracks in Devapura Pachwal village.

“Prima facie, it appears that the policeman was killed and later his body was thrown before a running train to give the murder an accident angle," Police Inspector Ramesh Chaubey said.

According to sources, around Rs 2,000 cash and a mobile phone were found in the constable's pocket, which suggests that the crime was not committed with an intention of loot.

Tiwari lived in Allahabad with his family. He used to travel daily for duty at the District Crime Record Bureau in Mirzapur.
