Moga: Counting of votes for the by-election to Moga Assembly seat in Punjab will be held on Thursday amid tight security.

Electoral officials on Wednesday reviewed the security arrangements made for the counting of votes and inspected the counting centre at Bhupimdera Khalsa Senior Secondary School in Moga.

Para-military forces would be deployed inside the counting centre while Punjab police would take care of security arrangements outside the centre, District Electoral Officer Arshdeep Singh Thind said.

SSP Ashish Chaudhary informed that sufficient police force would be deployed to avoid any untoward incident at the counting centre.

The bypoll was held on February 23 and over 71 percent of the voters exercised their franchise. The seat, which fell vacant after Joginderpal Jain quit Congress to join SAD, is witnessing a multi-cornered contest between SAD, Congress and Sanjha Morcha.
