Country’s first VIP lounge to come up at New Delhi Railway Station

New Delhi: Plans are afoot to develop the New Delhi Railway Station (NDRS) as a world class railway station. Taking a major step in the regard, NDRS is all set to become the first railway station of the country to have the luxury of a VIP lounge.

To be operated by the private firms, this lounge will be constructed in the Ajmeri side of NDRS. The proposed lounge will have boarding and lodging facilities for the VIP passengers.

To be constructed in the lines of an airport lounge, it will have facilities of modern communication including internet and telephone will be provided. In addition, the passengers will also avail the luxury of announcing system, LCD screen, chairs VIP dormitory and newspapers and magazines. Apart from the Indian recipes, the VIP passengers will have the facility to order fast food, Chinese food and continental dishes.

It is worth mentioning that helpers will be deployed in the lounge to ensure that the passengers do not face any problem. Taxi services will also be made available to the passengers.

The senior officials of Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) said that after the start of the project at New Delhi, it would be extended to other stations prominently including Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Pune.
