Kolkata, Jan 28 (Jagran News Network): A Kolkata Sessions Court will decide the fate of La’ Martiniere School’s Principal on January 31 as it deferred the hearing on Friday into Rouvanjit suicide case.

The Principal is accused of driving Rouvanjit Rawla to suicide.

The court will decide whether Section 305 of the IPC should be slapped on La' Martiniere School's Principal-Sunirmal Chakraborty and three other teachers after the police had failed to add abetment to suicide as one of the charges against them in their chargesheet.

13-year-old Rouvanjit Rawla hanged himself in February 2010 -- a couple of days after he was caned by his Principal in school for pulling off pranks in the classroom.

Although Chakraborty admitted to the caning and tendered an apology, the school maintained that the two incidents were unrelated.

Section 305 of the Indian Penal Code talks about abetment to suicide and says that if any person under 18 years of age commits suicide, whoever abets the commission of such an act, shall be punished with death or imprisonment for life.
