Gurgaon, Jan 28 (Agencies): The judicial custody of the alleged mastermind of Rs 400 crore Citibank fraud Shivraj Puri and co-accused Sanjay Gupta was extended till February 11, by a local court, here on Friday.

Announcing the extension using the video conferencing facility at the hearing, Chief Judicial Magistrate D N Bhardwaj on Friday extended their custody by 14 days. The two are currently lodged in Bhondsi jail, about 20 km from here.

Puri who was employed with Citibank’s Gurgaon branch as a Relationship Manager is accused of duping high networth individuals (HNIs) and corporates by collecting funds from them on promise of unusually high returns.

Gupta allegedly arranged funds for Puri and in lieu got commission of Rs 20 crore.

A multi-pronged probe involving the police, banking regulator RBI and capital markets watchdog Sebi is currently underway in the fraud case.

Citibank also said it was working towards providing "fair compensation" to its affected customers.
