Metropolitan Magistrate Sunil Kumar Sharma framed the charges against Kejriwal, former Delhi minister Manish Sisodia, Aam Aadmi Party leader Prashant Bhushan and former AAP leader Shazia Ilmi.

The case was filed by Amit Sibal after Kejriwal, during a press conference in 2013, alleged conflict of interest over his appearing in the Supreme Court for telecom major Vodafone while his father was the Union Communication Minister.

Amit had alleged that AAP leaders had said that he had taken advantage of his father's position to represent a telecom company in court cases here. On April 15, the Supreme Court had declined to stay the proceedings in the case in the trial court and had said it can only expedite the hearing.
The court had on July 24 last year summoned Kejriwal, Sisodia, Bhushan and Ilmi in the criminal defamation case filed by Amit, who is a senior lawyer.

The court set January 17, 2015 for commencing the recording of statement of witness in the case after the four leaders pleaded not guilty.
