Barrackpore: A local court in West Bengal’s Barasat on Saturday ordered the city’s Airport Police to register an FIR against a Trinamool Congress MLA, Sabyasachi Dutt, for allegedly provoking a TMC worker to shoot at a person during a clash between TMC-CPI (M) supporters on February 28.

The court also ordered to conduct a probe against the MLA Dutt for his alleged role in inciting the clash between TMC-CPI (M) workers.

Court was hearing a petition of Tinki Rai, the wife of Shankar Rai who was allegedly shot by Raju Pal. Tinki Rai has accused the TMC MLA Dutt of provoking Pal to shoot at her husband during the clash which cropped up on the Industrial strike day.

Earlier, the kin of the victim had demanded the police to register a complaint against 13 people including the MLA, but no action was taken. Disappointed at the aloofness of the local police, the victim’s wife Tinki Rai chose to file a petition in the Barasat court.

“Police took no action against the MLA and other involved in the incident,” said Mir Das, counsel of the victim.

Notably, a fight erupted between TMC and CPI(M) workers during a Industrial strike over closing a school in Rajarhat area of Barasat.
