Patna: The CPI(M-L) on Tuesday gave a call for 'Bihar bandh' on May 10 next to protest against the murder of Sonhathu panchayat mukhiya Devendra Singh alias Chhotu in Aurangabad district and the police lathicharge on protesters seeking CBI probe in the said murder case earlier this month.

The CPI (M-L) cadres will organize dharna, rallies and demonstration throughout the state during the 'Bihar bandh' under the leadership of the party general secretary Deepankar Bhattacharya, party sources said.

The mukhiya was shot dead by armed assailants while he was returning home in Dhamni village of Haspura block on March 29.

The opposition parties had strongly protested the murder case on May two during which the police had burst teargas shells, fired in the air and lathicharged the protesters who were demanding a CBI probe in the case.

The RJD supremo Lalu Prasad had addressed a public meeting in Dhamni village on May six and gave a call for the bandh in Magadh region if the state government failed to recommend CBI probe in the mukhiya murder case and the subsequent police atrocities on the protesters.
