New Delhi: Leaders of BJP and Left Front shard the dais in Ram Lila Ground to oppose the Central Government’s decision allowing Foreign Direct Investment in retail sector.

Launching scathing attack on the government over the FDI, BJP and Left Front leaders cautioned the UPA not to put the country’ economy in peril.

JD (U) president Sharad Yadav said that NDA is going to return to power in the 2014 general elections. Once the NDA comes to power at the Centre, the FDI in retail will be scrapped. BJP, Left Front and JD (U) leaders unanimously said that FDI be allowed in other sectors instead of retail.

Addressing the rally, BJP president Rajnath Singh said that the Indian retail market is estimated to be around 400 billion dollars with over 5 crore employees making their both ends meet. With the same turnover, retail giant Walmart provides jobs to mere 25 lakh people, added Rajnath Singh.

“Despite having different ideologies, we have shared dais with BJP leaders to save the country’s economy,” said senior CPI leader AB Bardhan.
