The decision to this effect was taken at the party's state council and executive committee meeting on Saturday.

The CPI is committed to strengthen the Left Democratic alliance to provide a viable alternative to the Congress and BJP, a statement issued by the party said. CPI leader Namdeo Kannake will be the candidate from Gadchiroli constituency and Prakash Reddy will contest Mumbai South seat.
    
The state council has sent a proposal to the national council to contest the Parbhani and Aurangabad seats as well.
