Greater Noida:To launch a long-term peaceful movement against farmers’ land acquisition, CPI would hold a ‘Bhoomi Bachao Sammelan’ meeting on Wednesday to prepare a detailed profile of the upcoming movement.

While addressing the media on Tuesday, CPI state general secretary, Dr Girish Sharma said, “Farmers’ land is being acquired on a large scale and when they protest, they are tortured.”

“Hundreds of farmers have been charsheeted in the region. Arrested farmers should be freed and farmers will continue their fight against land acquisition” Sharma added.

He further said the party’s general secretary, AB Bardhan, would be participating in the Wednesday meeting.

He laid emphasis on the fact that Rahul Gandhi should get the Land Acquisition Amendment Bill passed by the Congress.

The Wednesday’s meeting would be held in Gurjar Sanskriti Shodh Sansthan in Greater Noida where farmers from Agra, Mathura, Hathras, Aligarh, Gautam Buddha Nagar, Bagpat and Meerut are expected to participate.

CPI national council member, Arvind Raj Swarup, District president Natthi Ram Sharma, Gopal Sharma would also be present during the meeting.
