"This brazen ambush in a region which has seen repeated Maoist attacks highlights the inadequacies of the security strategy meant to deal with the Maoist violence,” the party said in a statement while condemning Tuesday’s attack in Sukma district.

"It is imperative that the Central and the state governments together work out an effective strategy to counter the Maoist armed groups," said the Communist Party of India-Marxist.

In a brazen attack, as many as 16 people — 11 CRPF personnel, four state police and one civilian — were gunned down by Naxals on Tuesday in Jeerum Nallah area of Sukma district.
