They also demanded the price of gas cylinder to be brought down to Rs 410.

CPI-M city secretary Ch Babu Rao said, "The poor and illiterate have been facing hardships to get cooking gas after it was linked with the Aadhaar number."

"A large number of LPG consumers have not been able to enrol themselves for the Aadhaar due to various technical problems and also enable to open the bank account. In this complex situation, many consumers are unable to get the gas regularly," he added.

He further blamed the Congress-led UPA government for rise in inflation.

"The governments have increased the electricity tariff, bus fares, LPG prices, among other things. The policies of the government have much impact on the prices of essential commodities. People have lost the confidence of the ruling party," he said.
