Agartala: Normal life was disrupted at Jirania sub-division in West Tripura district, about 40 km from here, on Monday in response to a 24-hour bandh called by ruling CPI-M following a clash with Opposition Congress in which one person was killed and nine others got injured.

Police said vehicles did not ply and markets, schools, college, banks and financial institutions remained closed in response to the shut-down call.

DIG, Police Control, Nepal Das said following an altercation between the activists of CPI-M and Congress last night, a clash ensued in which nine persons were injured.

He said when Congress activists attacked the house of one Ramen Deb, 82, at Block-Chowmuhani, he suffered a cardiac attack and died at Agartala Government Medical College hospital.

The ruling CPI-M claimed that all the injured belonged to their party.
