Johannesburg: Cricket South Africa (CSA) will release offspinner Johan Botha from his national contract after this year's World T20 in Sri Lanka, freeing him to captain South Australia.

CSA says it is not the end of Botha's international career and he remains "fully committed to South African cricket," but it will allow him to play in Australia for two seasons.

The 29-year-old Botha has played five Tests, 78 ODIs and 32 Twenty20 games for South Africa and will likely be a key part of the South African team for the World T20 in September and October.

He captained South Africa in Friday's rain-affected T20 win over India in Johannesburg.
