"The law and order machinery has done excellent job in the State. The crime rate has been reduced by almost 34 percent while detection has soared by 17 percent. The efforts of government to maintain law and order has finally bore results," Parsekar said while addressing the 54th Goa Liberation Day state-level function here.

Parsekar also expressed concern over the increase in the number of (road) accidents in the state. He said, in order to minimize the (road) accidents, his government has introduced 'little police concept' under which so far 1,200 students are enrolled.

The Chief Minister also announced the plans to set up Common Staff Selection Commission (CSSC) to recruit C and D category employees in state government departments.

"Setting up of CSSC will help facilitate to fill up vacancies of C and D category in various government departments at a time rather than publishing advertisement in the newspapers to fill up two or three posts in the aforesaid category in any department of the government," Parsekar said.
