Mumbai: Shekhar Kapoor critically acclaimed ‘Bandit Queen’ writer Mala Sen died of cancer at the Tata Memorial Hospital. She was 64.
    
Few months back, Sen was diagnosed with cancer. She had come to India from London for treatment at the Tata Memorial Hospital here.
     
She died on Sunday morning, hospital sources said. Sen was mostly known for her collaboration with director Shekhar Kapur for `Bandit Queen' (1994), the film based on the life of Phoolan Devi, a dacoit-turned-politician.
    
"RIP Mala Sen, a life spent in search of creative self expression, writer that led me 2 Bandit Queen," Shekhar Kapur said on twitter.
