Ranchi: In a joint combing operation of district police and CRPF against Maoists, 12 Naxals were arrested and explosives in bulk were seized from the Saranda forests in West Singhbhum. The operation continued for three-days and three rebel camps were also busted.

According to officials, 12 people were arrested for being involved in Naxal activities. On Wednesday the arrested were brought to the CRPF camps where they were interrogated.

Notably, during the three-day exercise, CRPF and police personnel had a close encounter with Naxalites in Saranda. The joint team faced stiff resistance as the Naxals opened fire and engaged them in an encounter near Chadra village on Tuesday evening.

However, later their camps were busted and police recovered 50 quintals of grains, potatoes, chocolates, biscuits, utensils for nearly 150 people, 50 jute bags, as many uniforms, two rifles and ammunition in huge quantity.
