New Delhi: Crude oil futures prices rose by 0.19 percent to Rs 4,703 per barrel on Monday as speculators created fresh positions amid a firm trend in Asia.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude oil for delivery in December gained Rs 8, or 0.17 percent, to Rs 4,703 per barrel, with a business turnover of 7,158 lots.
The oil for December delivery moved up by Rs 9, or 0.19 percent, to Rs 4,764 per barrel, with a business volume of 657 lots.
Marketmen said the rise in crude oil futures was largely in tandem with a firming trend in Asia on data indicating a continued economic pick-up in China, the world's largest energy consumer.
Meanwhile, crude oil for January delivery advanced by 29 cents to USD 86.22 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
