New Delhi: Social activist Anna Hazare’s might have questioned its relevance, but the anti corruption watchdog Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) wants to widen its jurisdiction. The CVC would present its views before the Parliamentary Standing Committee looking into the draft Lokpal Bill on Friday.

The CVC is likely to recommend vigilance framework under Lokpal for the corporates among others.

After its constitution, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Law and Justice will meet on Friday. The CVC has been asked to appear before it to present its views on jurisdictions of Lokpal.

Chief Vigilance Commissioner Pradip Kumar along with his two colleagues will appear before the Committee to discuss the widening of its jurisdiction.

CVC sources said Pradip Kumar will raise the issue of overlapping of responsibilities with Lokpal. In fact, the CVC could demand for more teeth to probe corruption charges against top officials.

Team Anna had suggested that the CVC be brought under the ambit of Lokpal.
