New Delhi: The Patiala House Court on Thursday rejected former CWG Organising Committee Chairman Suresh Kalmadi's plea seeking exemption from personal appearance on February 3 and 4 before the court to visit Pune.

The Patiala House Court Special Judge Talwant Singh rejected his plea on the ground that on January 28 he was allowed to go to Pune for a day but failed to avail the opportunity and attended the court proceedings on that day.

Kalmadi in his petition said that he needs to visit Pune for a medical check-up and to meet his family members.

Special Judge Talwant Singh also said that Kalmadi, who was granted bail by the Delhi High Court on January 19, is already undergoing treatment at two private hospitals in Delhi and Gurgaon.

However, the court said that Kalmadi could go to Pune on February 11 and 12 as the court would remain closed.

Meanwhile, Kalmadi has been chargesheeted in a new case related to the CWG. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has accused Kalmadi of violating foreign exchange laws while making payments to a London-based firm.

Kalmadi was arrested on April 26 last year for his alleged role in a corruption case related to the 2010 CWG.
