New Delhi: The CBI is again gearing up for questioning Comman Wealth Games ex-OC chief, Suresh Kalmadi in relation to the irregularities of funds during the mega sport event. Although the questioning has been in process for past six months, the probe agency has failed to nab the ex-OC chief due to lack of evidence.

A senior CBI official said, as the agency has found fresh evidence of irregularities in the contracts related to TRS, AM Films, AM Car and Van Hire Ltd, Kalmadi would be called for questioning on next Monday.

The agency after completing its investigation of the irregularities in Rs 3 crore contract given to the three companies during the bid of Queen's Baton Relay has finally returned from London with a report. The CBI team has also received several documents from the London police, and has questioned the owner of AM Films, AM Car and Van Hire Ltd, Ashish Patel, the official said.

Kalmadi was already summoned in this regard, but he could not appear as he was in Singapore. Although he had assured to appear for questioning as he returns, he went to Pune promising to present himself for questioning on Monday.

A few senior CBI officials are claiming that Kalmadi would be arrested soon, but one officer probing the case has clearly stated that the agency is yet to get concrete evidence against him.

The decision to arrest him would be taken only after his questioning is over on Monday, the officer added.
