New Delhi: The investigation of Shunglu Committee has sent ripples to the Prime Minister Office (PMO) too. Despite the decision taken by a group of ministers, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) Chairman Suresh Kalmadi was appointed as a chief of CWG Organising Committee in place of the then minister Sunil Dutt.

The Committee believes that this was the biggest conspiracy that took place prior to the CWG and may recommend for inquiry into it.

The Shunglu Committee, probing the irregularities that took place during the Commonwealth Games, is expected to hand over the report to the Prime Minister very soon.

Dainik Jagran has already reported on February 25 that how the government made Kalmadi the chief of CWG’s Organizing Committee. It had mentioned in detail that on October 25, a committee of ministers chose Sunil Dutt and approved that he should become the CWG Organizing Committee chief.  And, in just three days it was announced that Suresh Kalmadi would become the head of the Organizing Committee.

Sunil Dutt had raised his strong protest and wrote a letter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and the then Human Resource Development Minister Arjun Singh.
According to highly placed sources, Shunglu Committee has taken a serious note of the appointment of Kalmadi in place of the then minister Sunil Dutt as CWG Organizing Committee chief.

The Committee believes that the scam in the Commonwealth Games started right from the selection of the CWG’s Organizing Committee chief.  The PMO is required to clarify under what circumstances Kalmadi was given the charge. It sees a grave conspiracy in the selection procedure.
