New Delhi: A special court on Saturday granted bail to a CWG Organizing Committee official and a director of private firm as the CBI failed to file the chargesheet in the stipulated time period of 60 days. The duo was arrested on Feb 22.

Special judge Sanjeev Jain granted bail to CWG-OC additional director general, KUK Reddy and Praveen Bakshi, director of a private firm, who were arrested in the connection with the overlays scam.

During the hearing, the CBI argued that as the investigation is still on they would require more time to file the chargesheet. The CBI counsel told the court that Reddy and Bakshi gave and accepted bribery and Reddy misused his office.

Notably, the CBI is probing contracts worth Rs 600 crore awarded to private companies for Commonwealth Games 2010.
