Movie: Dabangg 2

Director: Abhinav Kashyap

Cast: Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha, Prakash Raj

Jagran Rating:  Good

Story Line: December 21 has marked its significance as it will be getting special treat in memory lane with getting tagged with D-factors. The trepidation of Doomsday, a prediction of ending world on December 21 from scientist fraternity, has coincided with the thrill of Dabangg 2 release, spiraling up the enthusiasm and gusto from reel to real world. Salman aka Chulbul is again ready to scorch the screen with his latest release Dabangg2, action-comedy movie and sequel to Dabangg.  Dabangg 2 is a complete package and a wholesome entertainer that is not-to-be-missed even if you are not a Salman Khan fan.

Chulbul Pandey (Salman Khan), a complete family man, married to his love Rajjo (Sonakshi Sinha) has been transferred from Lalganj to Kanpur. Like its prequel in this second edition larger-than-life Chulbul Pandey aka ‘Kungfu Pandey’ is all set to eradicate terror from society but in his own unique way. The story proceeds and Chulbul gets into clash with a criminal-turned-politician Baccha Bhaiyya (Prakash Raj) and his two ruffian brothers, Chunni (Nikitin Dheer) and Gainda (Deepak Dobriyal). Situation takes such twist that Bachcha bhai’s younger brother gets killed by Chulbul while he was saving an innocent girl’s modesty. The incident lands him and his family in a great trouble. Baccha Bhaiyya becomes hell-bent to take revenge from Chulbul.

Thumbs up: Arbaaz Khan, who has donned the hat of a director for first time, has done a commendable job. He doesn’t give our mind a single scope to remember what Abhinav Kashyap had done in Dabangg 2 prequel. Arbaaz deserves thumbs up for making Dbagg2 a complete entertainer.

Dabangg was remembered for Salman aka Chulbul Pandey and so does it sequel. With his unique mannerism of delivering dialogues and quintessential comic timing Salman has again proved his mettle in this larger than life character, Chulbul Pandey. He deserves applause for his effortless action scenes. He plays the bad-cop-with-a-golden heart attitude with great aplomb.

Salman and Sonakshi as a couple is treat to watch. Their on-screen romance is enjoyable.  Sonakshi has tried hard to deliver a convincing performance. The bad guy Prakash Raj is really a show stealer. Like Wanted and Singham he again thrills you with his acting skill and dialogue delivery.
The music director duo Sajid-Wajid has brought the same flavours from Dabangg.  Songs like Dagabaaz naina’, Pandey Ji and Fevcol se are already chart toppers. While Kareena sizzles in Fevicol track, ‘Munni’ girl Malaika’s special appearance in Pandeji track is treat to watch. The dialogues stick to their eastern Uttar Pradesh lingo and are extremely amusing. The humour quotient might work fabulously well, since the fun scenes will evoke a lot of laughter.

Thumbs down: Sonakshi Sinha needs to work a lot on her acting. The story is not new as it’s a mere characterization which makes some points. Dabangg 2 is like old wine served in a new bottle. Though few people may find Dabangg 2 less entertaining than its prequel, Salman has again hit the bull’s eye. Grab your ticket on this weekend and enjoy this family entertainer with everyone.
