According to local media reports, Prime Minister Modi shook hand with the accused officer who was wearing a blue shirt and branded sunglasses and asked, "Mr Dabangg Collector, how are you?"

Reports added that PM Modi's remark had sparked off a debate on the dress code of IAS officers on VVIP duty. The  Chhattisgarh government has warned the Collector for not following the protocol and showing no "integrity and devotion" towards duty.

"The act ( wearing sunglasses) is in violation of the Section 3 (1) of the All India Services (Conduct) Rules, 1968," the notice reads.

As per the protocol, every IAS officer should stringently follow the desired code of conduct and do nothing which is unbecoming of a member of the elite service.

The notice warned the Collector against such acts in the future.
