Jammu: Hundreds of daily wage workers of Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Department on Saturday sat on a hunger strike, demanding regularisation of their services and sought Chief Minister Omar Abdullah's intervention in the matter.

Over 250 PDD daily wagers and casual labourers sat on the hunger strike and held a demonstration outside the Chief Engineer's office at Canal Road here.

They demanded that the government regularise those PDD daily wagers and casual labourers who were working in the department for last five-ten years.

Asking Omar to intervene, they said, "He had promised to regularise the daily wagers in phased manners in 2009 but nothing was done."
