New Delhi: Adding an international fervour to its credibility, a leading national daily in India ‘Dainik Jagran’ has received WAN-IFRA award (World Association of Newspapers and News Publishers). The Association gave the award to Dainik Jagran in ‘Breaking News’ category for a news item which highlighted the free tickets scam in the Commonwealth games. The news report titled ‘Abhutpurva Muftkhori, Rs 74 crore ki ticketein bati thi muft’ was written by Jagran’s National Bureau Chief Anshuman Tiwari.

Already a pioneer in India, Dainik Jagran has started making its mark in the international journalistic field with this prestigious award. It is the only Hindi newspaper to receive WAN-IRFA award in Editorial category (Breaking News). The other two winners in this category are Financial Times and Yemen Observer.

The award ceremony was held in Thailand’s capital city of Bangkok on Thursday. WAN-IRFA award is the most prestigious international award in the field of journalism. It is an association of all newspapers and news publishers. Nearly, 18000 publishing institutions are members of this association.
