New Delhi: Demanding reservation for SCs, STs, minorities and women in the institution of Lokpal and the Judiciary, about 150 MPs launched a new debate on Wednesday, threatening to disrupt the House proceedings.

The MPs have demanded to change the existing executive orders on reservation in the government jobs to be converted into a law in the ongoing session.

The MPs united under the SC/ST MPs' Forum asked for a 50 percent reservation in the Lokpal.

PL Punia, member of forum and Chairman of National Commission of Scheduled Castes Commission, forum Secretary and Rajya Sabha member JD Seelam, LJP President Ram Vilas Paswan met Minister of State Narayanasamy on Wednesday in the Prime Minister’s Office.

Later talking to reporters, the forum members said, “We will meet the Prime Minister on Thursday in this regard.”

Punia said, “We want total 50 percent reservation in the Search Committee, Selection Committee and in the institution of Lokpal for Dalits, OBCs and women. “

He claimed the decades old 15 percent reservation for SCs and 7.5 reservation for STs in government jobs is just an executive order and should be converted into a law.

Meanwhile, one of the MPs JD Seelam said the annual budget of the Special Component Plan must be allotted and spent on the basis of their numbers.
