Jaipur: The prime accused in the 2006 Daria alias Dara Singh encounter case surrendered before a special CBI court here on Monday and was subsequently sent to one day judicial custody.

ADG AK Jain, prime accused in the encounter case was absconding since June 4 last year. He was carrying a reward of Rs 10 lakh on his head. The other four accused, carrying Rs 5 lakh each reward, in the encounter case are still untraceable.

Dara Singh was gunned down by police during encounter on the outskirts of Jaipur on October 23, 2006. Later the Supreme Court ordered a CBI inquiry into the incident.

The CBI court has declared Jain an absconder in the case and ordered attachment of his property.

Following the Supreme Court’s directives, the CBI speeded up its probe and announced reward money of the absconding accused.
