Jethmalani said he had a conversation with Dawood who told him that he is ready to come to India and face the investigation process of cases but the authorities should assure that third degree torture shall not be applied.

Jethmalani said he had given the request in written to Maharashtra government, then led by Chief Minister Sharad Pawar, which rejected the offer and did not even give the reply in writing. The advocate further alleged that the decision was not Pawar government’s alone, UPA might also be involved.
