Mumbai: D B Realty scrip on Monday gained 5 percent to touch the upper circuit limit after ace investor Rakesh Jhunjhunwala's firm acquired 12.5 lakh shares of the real estate company in an open market deal worth over Rs 11 crore.

D B Realty shares climbed 5 percent to touch the upper circuit limit of Rs 98.75 on the BSE. At NSE, the scrip surged 4.99 percent to Rs 98.8.

Rare Enterprises purchased 12.5 lakh shares of D B Realty at an average price of Rs 90.21 apiece on Friday. This values the transaction at Rs 11.27 crore.

The investment firm has been set up by Rakesh Jhunjhunwala.

Meanwhile, in the broader market, the BSE 30-stock index Sensex was trading at 18,634.50, down 40.68 points at 1212 hrs.
