New Delhi: Taking a stringent action against encroachers and illegal buildings, the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) demolished 40 such houses in the Budh Vihar Extension Colony in West Delhi.

The demolition drive continued till 4 pm. To avoid any untoward incident, heavy police force escorted the urban body team during the drive.

DDA Spokesperson Nimo Dhar said, “Till date, a total of 300 illegal properties which were identified as illegal have been demolished.”

It is worth mentioning that around two decades back few builders had constructed illegal colonies on the agricultural land.

Criticizing the demolition drive, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Vijay Bhagat said, “The police and DDA team demolished the properties without giving any prior information.”

Locals Raghu and Nandan Mishra said, “We did not get the time to remove the belongings from our houses.”
