Kolkata: The list of injured players got a bit longer for South Africa at the World Cup with excellent batsman A B de Villiers picking up a thigh strain but coach Corrie van Zyl insisted that the problem was not "major".

De Villiers is a doubtful starter for Tuesday's group match against Ireland due to the injury, which he picked up during the fifty he scored during the three-wicket win over India in Nagpur on Saturday.

He batted with a runner in that match and underwent scans but van Zyl said the injury was not serious. De Villiers' injury comes close on the heels of in-form spinner Imran Tahir
fracturing his left thumb.

"We are waiting for the doctor's report," he said.

De Villiers has been in fantastic form in the World Cup scoring 318, which includes two hundreds and a half-century in four matches.
