New Delhi: While cracking the whip on several Chief Engineers, Minister for Road Transport and Highways CP Joshi on Thursday shifted their duties to prevent any further delay in the execution of projects in the country.

According to sources, over 100 highway projects running behind schedule. Annoyed over the issue, Joshi has transferred 17 Chief Engineers linked to these projects to other states or regions.

Observers believe that the move comes in the backdrop of a recent letter written by Minister for Statistics and Programme Implementation, MS Gill, highlighting delays of up to seven years in some projects.

Taking the issue into account, Joshi has announced the transfer of 17 Chief Engineers including C Kandaswamy, IkonroramIK Pandey, AK Yadav, SK Verma, Veerendra Kaul, Y Balakrishna, P Haldar, AK Srivastava, SK Marwah, Manoj Kumar, Chamanlal, AK Nagpal, Satish Kumar, KC Verkyachan, Moolchand and Arun Kumar.
