New Delhi:  As the Assembly election in Uttar Pradesh draws nearer, demand for Congress tickets has increased. Voices are being raised to focus on non- Jat candidates.

With the appeal for giving Congress tickets to non- Jat candidates who are more backward than Dalits, a delegation of some Congress members from Uttar Pradesh met party General Secretary Rahul Gandhi.

The delegation included former Congress MP Ramnihor Rakesh and members of the Congress unit of Uttar Pradesh J N Vishwakarma and Girishchandra.

According to Girishchandra, tribal and people of some other backward community would take out a big rally in support of the party if they are given Congress tickets to contest in the Assembly election.

The Congress, on other hand, has cleared that it is paying equal attention to all classes of the society in distributing party tickets.

Notably, a delegation of Sufi Muslim has also met Rahul Gandhi demanding Congress tickets.
