Lucknow: Even as the Delhi Police gropes for leads into the Delhi High Court blast, a labourer in Balrampur had to bear the brunt of the ongoing investigations as he was detained by the local police due to his resemblance to the sketch released by Delhi police of the blast suspects.

Sehzaad, who was returning from Pune where he works, was released only after a sustained interrogation by the police.

Brij Lal, Special Director General (Law and Order), said, “The Balrampur police took action on complaints against a person who was bathing in a public washroom, but in his interrogation it was finally ascertained that he was a labourer.”

In the inquiry, it was revealed that the labourer named Shehzad alias Imran was a resident of Bela village of Balrampur and worked in Pune. He was heading for home when he thought of bathing at a public washroom.

Unfortunately, the people resembled him to one of the sketches of the blast suspect and complained against him. To verify the claims, the police carried out detailed investigations and contacted his employer and village head too.
