"The LG and the Chief Minister should sit together and find a solution. I believe that the LG and the Chief Minister will definitely find a solution," Home Minister Rajnath Singh told reporters here after meeting President Pranab Mukherjee. The Home Minister, however, denied he had discussed with the President the stand-off between the two.

"I want to clarify that there was no discussion on it," he cited when asked whether he briefed President Mukherjee on the raging controversy. Singh said he had sought appointment with the President even before his visit abroad last week as well as to Dehradun in the last two days.

However, sources said during the 15-minute meeting the Home Minister is believed to have conveyed to the President the Central government's position vis-a-vis the Delhi administration.

Singh is understood to have briefed Presindent Mukherjee on the opinion taken by the Home Ministry from Attorney General on the responsibilities and duties of the LG vis-a-vis the city government.
